To showcase Park Mediterranean development in Sai Kung, Hong Kong, Sino Group utilised 360° VR video, an undeveloped new technology to create a unique localized experience that audiences can’t get from viewing a brochure or webpage. It provided customers a real glimpse into what a life of luxury is really like for residents at the Park Mediterranean and the surrounding areas. RFI Asia partnered with an award winning filmmaker over a 5-day period, to created a 360° mini-movie highlighting Sai Kung’s diverse neighbourhood features, from beaches to marine parks to a golf course and the seafood market. The footage was transformed into a VR experience showing the best of Sai Kung from the land, sea and air. It was a trail-blazing effort which overcame major technical challenges along the way. The ‘VR@SaiKung’ roadshow invited visitors to wear Oculus Rift headsets and discover Park Mediterranean via an immersive VR journey. It was a big hit garnering media interest and drawing huge numbers of prospective property buyers. During the 4-week campaign, there were more than 10,000 visitors which provided an enormous boost in awareness and interest in Park Mediterranean. This translated into a spike in real-life visits to Park Mediterranean and the sales office. Sino Group reported a 500% increase in enquiries during this period, exceeding their expectations. This project represented a ground-breaking use of 360 video by a property developer in Hong Kong.
