The 2013 WHSRMA, hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and MOH Holdings (MOHH), is a unique collaboration between Government and the academia, putting health high on the agenda in Asia and the world. With the theme "Health for Sustainable Development in Asia", the regional meeting continues the aims of the World Health Summit (WHS) to improve healthcare and health-systems and strengthen the links between research, academic medicine and decision makers across all healthcare sectors, including government and industry, with a focus on Asia and its specific needs.

Asia’s continuous growth has brought major challenges for healthcare in the region, home to more than half of the world’s population. The urbanization rate is projected to grow from 40 per cent to 60 per cent by 2030. The challenges, especially for healthcare and health-systems, will include: Megacities, environmental hazards and fast growing and aging societies.

The 2013 WHSRMA will facilitate the discussion between members from academia, healthcare, industry, government and non-government organizations to formulate tailored Asian solutions and promote international cooperation at the scientific, economic and political levels, and to move research and knowledge to policy and implementation in Asia and beyond.

"The World Health Summit Regional Meeting Asia will address health topics that need engagement by all stakeholders if we are to ensure sustainable development of the region," said Professor John Wong, Co-chairman, WHSRMA 2013 Organizing Committee, Vice-Provost (Academic Medicine), National University of Singapore.

"With Ruder Finn’s experience in healthcare communication and regional media relations, we look forward to working closely with the team to promote this conference and engage the media," said a spokesperson from MOH Holdings.
