The 2012 Summit marked the first time Economist Conferences has organized a country-specific regional summit dedicated to China and designed to establish the Economist Conferences’ Healthcare in China Summit as the go-to place for thought leadership in the healthcare sector. Several high-level, healthcare-related meetings were held around the same time, distracting officials and media. Ruder Finn established partnerships with key influential media with appeal to targeted audiences (hospital and company decision-makers), including China Hospital CEO, PharmaChina and Caijing. The client was counselled on panel and discussion topics to make the meeting attractive. A proactive media approach was orchestrated with advance media alerts and ongoing communications to stimulate interest. As a result, the Summit was filled to capacity and well-attended by representatives from some of the biggest names in healthcare. Some 28 senior journalists from six international and 22 domestic media attended, generating more than 220 articles, including original reports and Internet reprints. The positive media coverage strongly increased Economist Conferences’ visibility in China.
