Bloomberg Businessweek 2nd Annual Global Green Business Summit brings together more than 400 high-level participants from China and abroad

Bloomberg Businessweeklaunched the 2nd Annual Global Green Business Summit on 8 June 2010 in Shanghai. Coinciding with the Shanghai Expo, the one-day summit brought together more than 400 thought leaders, senior government policy makers and top business executives from China and abroad. It focused on new and innovative strategies for sustainability and examined the challenges and opportunities that global sustainable development faces with urbanization, a low-carbon economy and energy conservation in the next five to ten years. 

The conference co-organized by Bloomberg Businessweek with China Enterprise Confederation (CEC)  and the Shanghai Municipal Government, which is demonstrating its commitment to green economy by hosting a World Expo focusing on exploring and exhibiting of  new urban strategies and solutions for eco-friendly and sustainable development. In his opening remarks,Norman Pearlstine, Chief Content Officer, Bloomberg L.P. & Chairman, Bloomberg Businessweek, says “The ongoing transformation to a green economy will bring to the mankind changes as profound as what industrial revolution did us in the19th century and information technology in the late 20th century. What we're gathered here to discuss today are indeed ideas and strategies that could help shape up a more sustainable future.”

The conference was also co-chaired by Han Zheng, Mayor of Shanghai and Wang Zhongyu, President of China Enterprise Confederation.

CEC President Wang Zhongyu said that green economy is now a global trend. "Energy-saving and emission reduction technologies such as solar power, clean energy buses and wastewater recycling systems were widely used at the ongoing Shanghai World Expo," said Wang. "I believe green and low-carbon technology use during the Expo will set an example for greater range of application and long-term green economy development."
