IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc.), the world’s largest technical professional society, is commemorating its 125^thanniversary in 2009 by “Celebrating 125 Years of Engineering the Future” around the globe. Through its more than 375,000 members in 160 countries, IEEE is a leading authority on a wide variety of areas ranging from aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering, electric power and consumer electronics. Dedicated to the advancement of technology, IEEE publishes 30 percent of the world’s literature in the electrical and electronics engineering and computer science fields, and has developed nearly 900 active industry standards. The organization annually sponsors more than 850 conferences worldwide.

About the Account

IEEE, the world’s largest professional technical society, charged RFA with the task of creating visibility for the organization both nationally and globally and to diversify the meaning of IEEE to members and prospective members. In addition to increasing their public visibility, IEEE was also looking to leverage the celebration of its 125th anniversary as an opportunity to promote the contributions of its members and the profession for the benefit of humanity, to the public.

Since the partnership began in May 2008, RFA has secured 24 separate media requests and 80 placements around the world in publications such as WIRED, “Today Show,” Dow Jones, Reuters, the Independent, FORTUNE, Purdue University newspaper and the Exponent.  Globally, Ruder Finn has reached more than 72 million readers in key countries including China, Japan, UK, India, German and the U.S. generating an AVE of more than $1 million.
