Trafigura
Project

Trafigura is one of the world’s leading international commodity traders specialising in the oil, minerals and metals markets, with 51 offices in 36 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and North, Central and South America.  It is the world’s second largest independent non-ferrous trading company and the third largest independent oil trader.

Objectives

Since April 2007, Ruder Finn Asia has been managing Trafigura’s corporate communications activities in Asia Pacific, working primarily with Trafigura’s regional oil headquarters, Trafigura Pte Ltd, in Singapore and Bell Pottinger, the lead agency in Trafigura’s global PR agency network.  Our brief covers media relations, government affairs, partnerships and sponsorships aimed at raising Trafigura’s profile in Singapore primarily and in other key markets in the region as necessary and appropriate.

We maintain and deliver a daily watching brief over the region which enables us to alert our client to key business and media opportunities, significant industry developments or government policy changes as well as potential issues in its key markets across the region.

In terms of media relations, Ruder Finn has developed a proactive programme targeted specifically at top tier media such as the Reuters and Bloomberg energy and commodities desks as well as with key trade media.

We also work to enhance Trafigura’s understanding of and relationship with relevant government agencies in Singapore and act as its liaison with IE Singapore, which manages the Global Trader Programme; the Economic Development Board and the International Trading Institute based in the Singapore Management University,
