Exclusively sponsored by Citigroup, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater (AAADT), one of the world’s premier modern dance companies, for the first time ever, took its singular brand of American dance to four Asian cities in 2004. The company’s work celebrates the uniqueness of the African-American experience and preservation of American modern dance heritage. AAADT has performed for more than 25 million people in 71 countries on six continents. To reinforce Citigroup’s commitment to the arts, the Agency used AAADT’s tour to engage targeted media and key opinion leaders (KOLs). The tour also served as a unique opportunity to engage Citigroup employees, business partners as well as key clients. The successful campaign solidified AAADT’s image in Asia as a premier modern dance theatre in media, art and culture circles, and with the general public. It also demonstrated Citigroup’s commitment to bringing world-class art to Asia while strengthening Citigroup’s relationships with China’s KOLs and influencers in arts circles. AAADT‘s 2004 historic visit was highly memorable. In 2007, Citigroup sponsored the company’s return to Asia.
