CSR

Active corporate social responsibility is an emerging trend within the Asia Pacific region as corporations increasingly understand that the manner in which a company manages the economic, social and environmental impact of its business, and the way it engages with its stakeholders -- employees, customers, business partners, shareholders, governments and communities – can have a profound influence on its reputation and long-term success.

Ruder Finn has special expertise in CSR strategy planning and implementation, both in China and throughout the region.  With growing public interest and increased government regulation and corporate awareness in the area of CSR, it is not just MNCs in China that are becoming focused on their obligations to the communities in which they live and work, but many local enterprises and companies are also taking up the challenge.

In China, Ruder Finn has a dedicated CSR team focused on developing CSR strategies and implementing CSR initiatives for a number of its clients including Volkswagen, Audi, DHL, BP, Michelin and L’Oreal, as well as the major Chinese sports company Li Ning.

At present, Ruder Finn is the only PR firm in China to have the insight and initiative to assemble a discrete and expert CSR team to develop programs with both multi-national and local companies.

We work closely with companies to assist them to become role model corporate citizens and enhance and promote their relationships with key stakeholders. We help develop unique programs with global themes but relevant local interpretation, high levels of employee engagement and strong links to both government and non-government organisations.

Specific programs include corporate governance, drug research and development, education promotion, micro-financing, health awareness, disaster mitigation and environmental issues. Our key expertise is in aligning these programs with our client's strategic business goals and the overall needs of the community. At every point of each program we undertake, we consistently evaluate its awareness of and impact on stakeholders and public policy formation.

To strengthen its expertise in this field, Ruder Finn China initiated a five-year cooperation CSR program with the prestigious Tsinghua University in 2008. The resultant Tsinghua-Ruder Finn CSR Program is aimed at building an effective communication platform involving the government, NGOs and business sectors. One of the benchmarks for this program, will be the annual publication of a CSR book, co-authored by Tsinghua University and Ruder Finn.
